Once again, knocked out on mom's milk... Avery sleeps. Doesn't she look so peaceful? Wouldn't it be nice if she could be like this always? The answer is, "YES"
But isn't she beautiful? And how about those chubby cheeks! She is a good eater (and a good pooper as we have discovered from funny encounters of projectile poop). We love our daughter!

Smiles & Funny Faces
I just got done feeding Avery, so she was pretty content. This week she started really starting to smile... it's been so fun. She has also started to follow us when we move... cool to think she likes to look at us. :) Isn't she a beauty?

Dad Is The Man
Brian has loved having a daughter... and he has done so well with her! We went to a neighborhood BBQ and he carried her around in the Baby Bjorn and was a proud father. Although it's tiring, he's doing a great job as you can see from the content look on Avery's face when she is in his strong arms.

Like Mother Like Daughter?
My mom just sent these pictures of me as a baby... do you think Avery looks like me at all? That is a strange thing to look at a little person and see a bit of yourself in them.

A Tribute To The Grandparents
We sure love our parents... and they were beaming when they met Avery. Here are some our favorite shots of them with Avery. Grandparents are so great... they dote, they cuddle, they love, they kiss, they let babies fall asleep on them, and they bless.

Sweet Moments
Right now, my daughter is asleep on my chest. Who would have ever guessed I would love it so much. She is a small bundle of joy. Part of this is practical, in that she wasn't sleeping in her crib... classic. But mostly it is just a great moment that I get with her. She makes these great little noises and squeaks while she sleeps too. Being a mom is a tough thing... I am being challenged in ways I never thought possible, and I know that my character will be forever shaped by this. I am thankful for this moment. Pin It

Brian Decorates Rachel's Birthday Cake
Brian baked me a cake for my 30th birthday... his first cake ever. It was a classic moment... but it tasted great! I love my husband!!!
The candles melted before I could blow them out... it was hilarious! Pin It

Dad and Avery Time
Brian and Avery had some face to face time today. So cute. It was a nice respit from her crying... she sure loves her daddy!

Avery's Cuteness & Mom's Exhaustion
I was up at all hours of the night last night... exhausted, delusional, and overwhelmed at our crying baby. I have gained a new appreciation for mothers, especially my own. I know that my mom probably was up for hours with me when I was a baby, and I am in awe of her. It really is the grace of God that gets moms through sleepless nights (and days). But... in the midst of a long couple of days for me, I snapped a couple of really cute shots of Avery. She is a precious little girl and Brian and I love her dearly. She makes the funniest faces!
If you think of me... please pray for endurance and rest. Pray also that the Lord would give me wisdom to know how to best meet Avery's needs.

Avery & Mom
Rachel got some time holding little Avery... still in the hospital in this one. What a life change it is to have a kiddo. Mom & baby are pretty wiped out, but doing good.

Avery's First Video
Here is Avery's first video... right after she was born, getting all cleaned, measured, and weighed. We loved her right from the beginning.

One Week Old
We made it through the first week... unbelievable. Other than feeling exhausted and having lost track of what day and time it is, I am loving being a mom. I love looking at Avery... she is so beautiful. Her personality is starting to surface bit by bit... I think she will be a pretty low-key little girl.
Avery seems to enjoy her time sticking her tongue out, eating and eating and eating, and pooping about every five minutes.
If you think about us, please pray for strength, endurance, and continued joy in this process for the both of us (especially me as I am getting up with her during the nights).
And if you can't tell by the following pictures... Brian LOVES being a dad.

SHE IS HERE!!!
After 12 days of waiting (past the due date), we finally have a little girl!
Avery Joy Schultz was born on July 31st at 1:15am after 16 hours of labor. Side note: Rachel loves the epidural. :)
She weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. and was 20 inches long.
We have just been staring at her... she is beautiful. And after the long journey we feel like we have been on, we are overwhelmed with joy and thankfulness to have this little one.
Enough from me though... here are some pictures from the first night & the last few days...
