Pray For Us
Well, that's what I get for bragging about my child sleeping so well a few days ago... days of just the opposite. Today seemed to be a bit of the pinnacle of that. Avery just couldn't calm down and wouldn't sleep. And I ended up holding her for a few hours just so she would sleep. I am exhausted. Brian and I were talking that it doesn't seem like this fussiness is easing up... it seems like it has gotten worse. So, if you are reading this blog (thank you) would you pray for us. Especially for me, as the combination of fatigue and a crying baby is pretty lethal. We sure do love Avery and we thank the Lord for her... it's just a hard season of life and we need God to sustain us. I was reading some verses I had written down and found myself clinging to one in particular... and I'll end this little note with these great words:
I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast within me.
Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."
Lamentations 3:19-24
I am thankful for God's fresh compassion each morning! Pin It

Talking Sports With Dad
Avery and Brian had a good conversation about the Green Bay Packers this morning. She thinks they might go all the way. The opinion of a 7 week old is very important in the world of sports... :) right.
But we do love her sounds and how she kind of "screams" to communicate with us. It's hilarious!

Sleep... Praise the Lord!
Other than having the cutest and oddest sleeping positions, Avery has blessed me the past two days with sleeping for longer stretches at night. In fact, last night she slept from 8:30pm to 6:30am! I woke up at 2am and went in to see if she was still alive... and there she was, sound asleep.
Another sleep praise is that Avery has gone down for two naps today... AND... she put herself to sleep! I didn't think I would ever be able to just wrap her up and put her in the crib and watch her fall asleep. It was an amazing feeling. I actually just sat there for a while because I thought, "she is for sure going to wake herself up and start crying." She didn't. So today, I am saying "PRAISE THE LORD for good sleep!"
I know it may not last, and today may be the only day she does this... but I am thankful for TODAY.

Helping With The Laundry
You would think that Avery is too young to be doing chores... well, she "willingly" volunteered to help mom out with laundry this week. Not really, but she sure is cute? I would be much more motivated to do laundry if it was all as cute as this! Pin It

We are finding ourselves steeped in cheesy photos... but that's okay. Isn't that what being a parent involves? We love it though. And Brian is especially proud of his daughter sporting his KU hat... a bit big right now, but at the rate she is growing it won't be long before it fits her too! Go Jayhawks!!! Pin It

A New Cousin
My younger sister Andrea just had another baby on September 7th... another cousin for our little Avery. We will hopefully get to meet her during Christmastime. I know this blog is mostly about our fam, but I had to put these pictures in because she is SO cute! So here is Rachel Eliana Taylor... she was named after me... what a total honor!

Meeting Auntie Tiffany & The Cousins
I went to Denver last night to have dinner with my parents and my sister Tiffany, who brought Reese & Jeremiah (two of my nephews). We had a great time, and it was fun to see the doting Aunt.
My favorite line of the night, though, came from Reese (who is 6 years old)...
"You're gonna be cute 'cause you look like me, and you'll be a good swimmer 'cause you've got chubby cheeks."
He "sang" this to Avery... it was very cute!

A Little Playtime
This invention is wonderful... Avery just stares at herself in the mirror. She kicks her legs like crazy when she lies in this and her eyes get real big. And mom likes it because it gives her a few minutes to do other things! Pin It
Look At That Face!
Our daughter seems to make the funniest faces. She makes this one face that looks like she ate something rotten. Her cheeks pooch out, she gets a double chin, and it makes her face look squished. It is hilarious. Pin It

One Month Weigh-In
We went to the doctor yesterday for Avery's one month check up and it was great! It has been confirmed that our daughter is a good eater... she was 6lbs. 13oz. when she was born and she now weighs 10lbs. 13oz... she was 20 inches long when she was born and now she is 22 inches. We are so proud! :)

Go Yankees!
Avery was just chillin' on our cool NY Yankees blanket. We are starting to indoctrinate her early... you know, educating her in the ways of her dad's favorite sports teams. We'll have to get some Broncos stuff though... have to represent her mom in some way.
