We were in Madison for Thanksgiving and Avery loved being with her grandparents... and their two cats. She chased them around for the entire time we were there. Not so sure they enjoyed it, but at least Avery did.
We took a little outing to get some fresh air and a change of scenery and went to the Madison zoo... a cute little place, except that because it was arctic outside, there weren't hardly any animals to see. We saw a few though... kangaroos, lions, monkeys, buffalo, and some cool birds. It was just nice to be out of the house for a bit.
Avery is waving goodbye to the birds here...
If you squint you might actually be able to see the kangaroo in the background.

Box Car
Avery is such a riot sometimes. We had an empty diaper box and she decided it would be fun for mom & dad to push her around in it.... her own little box car. The only problem is when we get tired, she wants us to keep going. We are becoming very good at the "art of diversion"... "Avery, do you want a snack?" "Avery, where is your ball?" "Avery, let's do a puzzle." Anything to keep from meltdowns happening.

Playtime With Rachel
Avery and her cousin Rachel are only about a month apart and they seem to have the best time together. Although I have a feeling that Rachel feels a bit overwhelmed by Avery's enthusiasm at times. Rachel was over the other day and Avery was loving it. I put together a little "montage" of some of their playtime fun... chasing each other, laughing hysterically, Avery reading to Rachel, and, of course, sharing their snacks (notice that Rachel's mouth is EXPLODING with crackers!). I don't think I have seen Avery laugh so hard. Enjoy!

Bathtime Talk
Avery has been "talking" more than ever in her little jibberjabber. I had to catch her in the tub a few weeks ago talking it up. She was going for probably 20 minutes.

Our Little Halloween Duck
Avery was a duck for Halloween this year and we joined some friends of our for their neighborhood trick or treat outing. Andrea, Malachi, and Rachel joined us to and we had a blast! Avery was so excited that she practically ran the entire time. She laughed at the other kids and only tripped 4 or 5 times... not too bad. :)
Avery & dad... look at that cute duck butt!
Avery the duck, Rachel the little monkey, and Malachi as Thomas the Train
Cruisin'...
What a cute duck!
Yes, I'm wearing a pimp hat.
The cutest part was that she would get so excited that she would walk up a driveway, pause, and then turn around and start going in another direction... she wasn't quite sure where she was going, but she was certainly having fun getting there.

Pumpkin Patch Time
A few weeks ago we went to a pumpkin patch here in town with Avery, my sister and her family. It was total chaos and a lot of fun to watch the kids go absolutely nuts with the pumpkins and the farm animals. It was great (and it was great to get back in the car and take a breather when it was all said and done. :)
Avery enjoyed riding in the cart as we ventured into the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect pumpkin.

DOWNSTAIRS!
Avery always wants to go downstairs now that she is getting closer to mastering the art of going down on her belly. What is hilarious is that when we tell her to sit down so she can roll onto her stomach is walks about 5 feet away from the stairs and then sits down. The other day she kept saying "DOW"... meaning "downstairs" and proceeded to scoot herself from the kitchen into our guest bathroom which is at the top of this picture I took. What a little ham! She cracks me up!
Here's a short video of her trying to go downstairs, she doesn't quite make it.

Fun With A Mirror
I was in the office the other day and glanced back just in time to see Avery start playing a little game. She would run down the hallway and then sneak back and slowly peer into the mirror and start laughing and dancing. I had to just sit there and watch and smile. What a precious little girl we have!

Our Little Guppy
We put Avery in a mom & baby swim class (Guppy) and had a great time! She loves the water and we got to meet other moms which was a huge blessing. We also did the class with a good friend of ours Joy & her daughter Gwyneth. Avery loved jumping in from the side, started to get the whole blowing bubbles thing, and did alright floating on her back.

A Father's Love Letter
I am reading a GREAT book right now as a follow up to reading "The Shack" (a book that has changed my life), called "He Loves Me" by Wayne Jacobsen. So rich with words about God's affection toward people, about the lengths to which He has gone just so we could be in close relationship with Him. It has been so sweet.
Well, I found this letter (you may have already seen it) that is a compilation of verses from the Bible about God's love... I thought, what better thing could I possibly do than to share it. It's a little long, so bear with it... it's worth it. God's words to YOU.

You may not know me, but I know everything about you.
Psalm 139:1
I know when you sit down and when you rise up.
