Christmas 2012

And so we make it to Christmas.

After we got back from Mexico, we jumped right into the holidays which was really so much fun.

The girls loved looking at the tree and picking out which ornaments were their favorites.
We made LOTS of Christmas cookies.
Avery walked around for a good month singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."
They proudly wore "I heart Santa" jammies as many times as they could.
We sang Christmas carols.
The girls loved putting on their fancy Christmas dresses for church.
Avery wrote a letter to Santa.... so cute.
It was such a great time to be together.

On Christmas morning, the girl crawled into bed with us.  We talked about how excited we were for the day.  Then I asked Avery to go and turn the Christmas tree lights on... and then we heard a huge gasp, followed by screaming, "MOM, DAD... GET OUT HERE!  GET OUT HERE!  THERE'S PRESENTS!!!!"  It made us both just laugh and smile.

And when Santa walked in our front door on Christmas morning... well, let's just say that it doesn't get much better than that.

The girls put out carrots for Santa's reindeer, cookies & milk for Santa, and Avery wrote him a letter.  It read, "To Santa.  Love, Avery.  HO HO HO.  Thank you.  I am leaving Christmas cookies for you."

"Girls!  Look out the window!  Who is that!?!?!"

After opening all the gifts, Avery enjoyed playing with her Cinderella figurines.  Later, this is what I found.  Our Nativity looked a bit different.  'm not sure the Fairy Godmother was there when Jesus was born. :)

Rudolph The Snowman

We FINALLY got snow here after a long stretch of dry.  So we celebrated that by making a snowman.  And by "we" I mean "me."  Avery appropriately named it "Rudolph."  So... we gave it antlers.  I think it turned out pretty great!

Avery had to take a picture of mom & dad with Rudolph

10 Years! We're Going to Cabo Baby!

I can't believe Brian and I have been married for 10 years!  We sure have a rich life and I feel so blessed.   I guess we aren't newlyweds anymore, huh?

So, for this anniversary... we did something we've NEVER done before!  A trip (without kids) to a beautiful tropical place.  It was AWESOME!

CABO SAN LUCAS!!!!!

We left our sweet girls and headed to Mexico for 5 days.  I read two books, slept, ate TONS of guacamole, laid by the pool, watched whales from our balcony, swam with a dolphin, and rested.  It was a gift!!!!!

Pictures really don't do it justice, but here's try...
The view from our balcony

Looking out to the right from our balcony

And no... I didn't get wet

Watched the sun rise & set every day

These were on our resort... classic

This is what I did in Mexico... not much of anything at all.  It was awesome.

Gingerbread House Party

We have been so grateful for Avery's school and the chance to love the other families there.  So Avery and I talked and she decided she wanted to have a couple of girls from her class over for a gingerbread house making party.  Two precious girls came and they had so much fun... and ate a TON of sugar!  I suppose that is to be expected at something like this.

It was so fun to watch my sweet girl just love on these two friends from her class.  We are hopeful and praying for more opportunities to bless them!

Eleana, Avery, & Andrea... precious girls!

Thanksgiving in Vail 2012

Vail was a blast this year!  Brian's parents and my parents were there and we had a lot of fun.  Lots of games, hide and seek, running down the halls, eating, and swimming.

Flames in the fountain... pretty cool

This was Avery's favorite thing, "the glow" she calls it.  A huge lighted sculpture in downtown Vail.

Our annual Thanksgiving tradition... gumdrop turkeys!

Highlight of the time.. watching Bill swim with Avery.  SO impressive in light of him having only one leg and a deformed left arm.  Go Bill!  Check out his cannonball!
