Thanksgiving in Vail 2012

Vail was a blast this year!  Brian's parents and my parents were there and we had a lot of fun.  Lots of games, hide and seek, running down the halls, eating, and swimming.

Flames in the fountain... pretty cool

This was Avery's favorite thing, "the glow" she calls it.  A huge lighted sculpture in downtown Vail.

Our annual Thanksgiving tradition... gumdrop turkeys!

Highlight of the time.. watching Bill swim with Avery.  SO impressive in light of him having only one leg and a deformed left arm.  Go Bill!  Check out his cannonball!

Like A Painting Only Better

I woke up this morning and saw this.  I just had to stop and look.  God painted the sky... what a gift.

Turkey In Disguise

Avery brought home a project from school.  "Disguise The Turkey."  And so... using her current favorite obsession (Cinderella), we put our heads together and came up with this...
What do you think?  Pretty great I think!  And hilarious.  She even has glass slippers!

Give Thanks

I was inspired this Thanksgiving season to be more intentional about giving thanks.  So I made a little "decoration" that hung right above our table so every time I ate, I would be reminded to pause, notice God's graces, and respond to Him in gratitude.  It was a blessing.

Leaves!

Who needs toys when you have a huge pile of leaves?  Great question.

Their favorite game... "dad dump leaves on our heads!"

Pumpkin Patch '12

We went to the pumpkin patch with some good friends this year.  They recently moved here from Slovakia and it was SO much fun to bring them.  Avery had a blast running through the fields in search of the "perfect" pumpkin.  Madi, on the other hand, wasn't so sure about the pokey vines.  We still ended up with a great pumpkin for her!

Carved Pumpkins '12

We carved pumpkins as a family... which means that Brian and I carved them for the family.  We had to bribe Avery to even touch the "guts" of the pumpkin.  Here we were thinking that it would be fun to get messy and she wanted nothing to do with it.  Oh well.  Here's what we came up with...

The girls wanted rainbows and hearts... yes, I have two girls.

Classic Brian.  A masterpiece.
